The holiday season brings thoughts of warmth and love, coziness by a fire (or in my family’s case, a yule log crackling on the television that my father continuously warms his hands near as he walks by on Christmas morning), Christmas cookies baking in the oven, kids laughing as they open gifts, adults laughing around a dinner table, friends sharing a drink together — to me it’s all about togetherness. It’s a time of year that reminds me how important it is to gather with friends, family and those we love and let them know how much we appreciate them through little gestures and gifts and thoughtful cards.

But, sometimes in the hustle and bustle of everything that we are trying to juggle and remember, things get forgotten, or we get invited to something last minute and we don’t want to arrive empty-handed, or we want to show our appreciation for someone that unexpectedly went above and beyond.

Like with everything I do, I like to be prepared. I like to keep some gifts on hand so that I never have to show up to an event without a gift for the host or hostess, or if my boyfriend forgot to grab that secret santa gift for his coworker, or our neighbor kindly rolled our garbage bins up our driveway for the 100th time in a row because I can never quite get out there as early as they do.

Yes, you can always keep some nice bottles of wine on hand and candles are always a great gift as well, but I think this time of year, we tend to give and receive a lot of both (not that I’m complaining, because I love both!), so I came up with some different ideas to hopefully offer a little inspiration.

Here’s a list of 8 gifts from Amazon that I think are thoughtful gifts that anyone would love to receive, that won’t break the bank, and that are universal and unique.

1. Tea Forte Warming Joy Petite Presentation Box Tea Sampler Gift Set

This pretty little tea set comes with 10 tea bag infusers in holiday winter spices, packaged in a presentation boxed gift set, and makes a lovely gift for anyone that loves tea.

2. 9 Herb Window Garden

I’m an avid gardener and I love fresh herbs, so I think this is such a great gift! The set comes with the complete kit to grow an entire window garden of 9 herbs including dill, basil, chives, thyme, parsley, oregano, cilantro, sage and mustard.

3. Super Soft Fleece Sherpa Holiday Throw Blanket

I love warm, cozy gifts because I think they are universally loved by everyone. This blanket is 50” x 60”, is super soft, and comes in a variety of fun, holiday patterns.

4. European 12 Ounce Red Wine Glasses

I think these are such a unique and beautiful shape, and paired with a bottle of wine or on their own, these make a wonderful host or hostess gift.

5. Barnett’s Gourmet Chocolate Biscotti Gift Basket

This gourmet sampler gift box includes 5 biscotti each hand dipped in chocolate and topped in candied almonds, caramel chip, craisins, cookie and coconut crunch.

6. Thank You For Being Awesome 16 oz Black Tumbler

I think everyone loves a good travel mug, and I love having something on hand that says “thank you” for going that extra mile, because I love showing appreciation for people that do. This is a 16 ounce, stainless steel, food grade cup, made to keep hot drinks hot and cold beverages icy.

7. Unique Bamboo Cheese Board and Knife Set

Because of my great love for all things charcuterie, you know that a cheese board and knife set had to make this list. This one is made of natural bamboo, so it’s durable, has a nice display for the knives that come with the set, and a space for things like nuts and crackers.

8. Handmade Ceramic Hand Painted Hand Warmer Mug

This was too cool not to include on this list. Not only is it a handmade gift, which I love, but it’s a mug that warms your hands while you’re drinking from it. This is a great gift for anyone that enjoys coffee, tea, hot chocolate, or even sitting around a campfire.
